Knowledge
At the center of all our pursuits is knowledge. It is our goal to pursue knowledge as Christians. Therefore, we start with the premise that knowledge is acquired through getting to know a person. Scripture says, “In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Col 2:3). This is heralded in our school mission statement. We believe you cannot get smarter without being in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Along with being personal and intimate and founded in Christ, consequently, we believe knowledge is valuable. The book of Proverbs tell us, “Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding” (Prov. 4:17). No price can be put on the truth. It’s personal and valuable and only worth possessing in the context of love and humility. The Apostle Paul gives this admonition in his letter to the Corinthians when he writes, “Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up” (1 Cor. 8:1). With scriptural guidance and the acknowledged need for balance between learning and humility, the National Honor Society maintains knowledge as central to our calling as an organization within our school.
